SAVOR SUNSET: Sunset Magazine seems to extract Californianess from every fresh meal it features in its pages, much like juice from a lemon (a locally grown lemon, of course). So when the venerable publication puts on a foodie-forward, multi-day to-do, a weekend that is going to feature the finest tastes of the Central Coast, we stop whatever we're doing (usually we're looking at a Sunset) and take note. Savor the Central Coast opens on Thursday, Sept. 30 in Santa Margarita, and will host a bevy of celebs (like Tyler Florence and Chris Isaak, who is slated to perform) and demos and tastings and such.
HIGHLIGHTS: Savor the Central Coast will be offering tours of local wineries (Santa Margarita, of course, is near Paso Robles and Santa Ynez and dozens of famous vineyards); the magazine's editors will also be appearing over the weekend to talk all things edible. Plus: See a kitchen garden that is two acres big. Makes us dream of something bigger for our own tiny tomato plant and basil sprig.
