Kittens. They’re cute, cuddly, and critical to helping Los Angeles become No Kill Los Angeles (NKLA).

As kittens are the most at-risk population in city shelters, foster homes are desperately needed to help care for them, especially now during the height of kitten season.

To encourage kitten fosters, the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Mission Hills, Stray Cat Alliance, and all six Los Angeles Animal Services shelters are hosting a “Save the Kittens” Walk-In Foster Weekend on August 26 and 27.

Fosters will be provided with information and supplies to successfully care for a kitten or litter of kittens for one to seven weeks. Once foster kittens have reached the two pound mark (at approximately two months old), they are returned for spay/neuter and put up for adoption.

Fostering is a fun, temporary commitment that makes a big lifesaving impact by creating space at the shelters and adoption centers for more at-risk kittens to come in for care.
