Comcast NBCUnites Service Weeks

NBC4's parent company Comcast NBCUniversal launched a new social impact initiative - Comcast NBCUnites - to strengthen and support underserved communities where we live and work. Beginning on April 22, Comcast NBCUnites Service Weeks will host its largest volunteer projects of the year, providing employees the opportunity to get involved with a variety of causes.

On April 27, NBC4 employees will volunteer with family members, friends and other NBCUniversal employees to beautify Telfair Elementary School in Pacoima, which has one of the highest number of homeless students in LAUSD.  NBC4 Meteorologist Anthony Yanez will deliver brief remarks to kick off the service project. The project is in partnership with City Year and Big Sunday.

Over the course of the two-week initiative, over 1,000 employees, family members and friends will have volunteered for 30 service projects, including an Earth Day beach clean-up event in Venice, where Jessica Vilchis, NBC co-host of California Live joined hundreds of volunteers to pick up debris.
