State Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez and former Los Angeles City Planning Commissioner Robert Lee Ahn are the two final candidates for the 34th Congressional District Seat and will have the opportunity to share their views and priorities that sets their candidacy apart in the 34th Congressional Candidate Forum on May 25, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Occidental College Thorne Hall.

The forum is hosted by the Alliance for a Better Community and NALEO Educational Fund; and NBC4 Chief Political Reporter and Anchor of News Conference Conan Nolan and Telemundo 52 News Anchor Dunia Elvir will serve as moderators that will include questions to candidates that have been pre-selected and from audience members in attendance.

To 34th Congressional District Candidate Forum is free and open to the public, to RSVP, click here.

Following a crowded ballot of 23 candidates vying for the 34th congressional district seat in the April 4, 2017 Special Election, the final two candidates, Gomez and Ahn, will go head-to-head in the June 6, 2017 runoff.

The coveted position previously held by now California Attorney General Xavier Becerra spans culturally diverse and highly- influential downtown neighborhoods including Boyle Heights, Chinatown, El Sereno, Glassell Park, Koreatown and Mount Washington.

A Gomez win would re-fill the seat with a Latino in a district that is 64 percent Latino and an Ahn win would send the first Korean-American to Congress.

Candidates will discuss their position on a variety of issues that will have a direct effect on all constituents of the 34th congressional district.
