For the 25th consecutive year, NBC4 Weathercaster Fritz Coleman hosted Shelter Partnership's "28th Annual Dinner," on May 3, 2017 at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. The nonprofit organization raises awareness and funds to fight homelessness in Los Angeles County.
NBC4 President and General Manager Steve Carlston, presented Shelter Partnership Founder and Executive Director Ruth Schwartz with the NBC4 Life Connected Award for her passion and limitless committment to fighting homelessness, connecting multiple sectors in the community to help more than 47,000 homeless individuals receive essential items and resources.
The NBC4 Life Connected Award is named for the station's "Life Connected" series which celebrates individuals and communities that connect in unique ways to overcome obstacles and improve the quality of life for others. The series airs every Sunday during the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. and again on Mondays during the NBC4 News at 11 a.m.
Shelter Partnership also honored Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Second District, for his leadership on the passage of Measure H, a landmark proposition that will raise $355 million annually for services for the homeless.
Shelter Partnership provides support to hundreds of agencies, free of charge and also serves as a resource to public agencies, the business community, local and national media, and community members involved in the issues of homelessness and the creation of permanent supportive housing.
