Netflix is responding to director Steven Spielberg's calls for its films to be removed from Academy Awards consideration.
The streaming giant did not mention Spielberg by name but on Sunday posted a tweet pertaining to the issues Spielberg raised.
"We love cinema. Here are some things we also love," the tweet read, listing three items that appeared to address Spielberg's complaints:
-Access for people who can't always afford, or live in towns without theaters.
-Letting everyone, everywhere enjoy releases at the same time.
- Giving filmmakers more ways to share art.

Spielberg has weighed in before on whether streaming movies should compete for the film industry's most prestigious award (TV movies, he said last year, should compete for Emmys), but that was before Netflix nearly succeeded in getting its first best picture Oscar for Alfonso Cuaron's "Roma" at last week's Academy Awards. Netflix, of course, did not win the top award, which went to "Green Book."
Spielberg is reported to be planning to speak to the Academy's board of directors in an effort to get it to reconsider its stance on allowing Netflix movies to be considered for Oscars.
"Steven feels strongly about the difference between the streaming and theatrical situation," a representative for Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment is reported to have said. "He'll be happy if the others will join (his campaign) when that comes up."
