He burst onto the scene at Seattle Grace stabbing a pen into a man’s jugular and removing a killer icicle from Christina Yang’s abdomen.
Kevin McKidd, who plays the army doc-turned-hospital-surgeon on “Grey’s,” is joining the cast as a series regular, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
“I am excited to have Kevin McKidd joining us for the season,” series creator Shonda Rhimes said in a statement to Access. “He’s been a delight to collaborate with and brings incredible passion, talent and creativity to his work. Plus, he’s already got the ‘Mc’ built in to his name so we had to keep him.”
Since his debut on the show earlier this season, Dr. Hunt – a veteran of the war in Iraq – has become a love interest for Dr. Yang (played by Sandra Oh).
However, “Grey’s Anatomy” isn’t the first time McKidd has shared the screen with Dr. McDreamy – Patrick Dempsey.
The two co-starred in the big screen romantic comedy “Made of Honor” earlier this year.
McKidd’s other TV credits include the leads in NBC’s “Journeyman” and HBO’s “Rome.”
His big screen credits include “Hannibal Rising,” “Kingdom of Heaven” and “De-lovely.”
