Miley Cyrus Embroiled in Twitter Holy War

Tweeting about science has irked the young singer's Christian following.

An innocuous Tweet from pop star Miley Cyrus about the scientific origins of the universe, predictably, sparked heated backlash from her Christian fans.

The 19-year-old posted a quote from physicist Lawrence Krauss that said:

“You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live.”

Some fans immediately began hitting Cyrus's Twitter page with complaints about the statement and outright attacking the actress and singer - even claiming she could "go to hell."

Cyrus responded with a quote from Albert Einstein: "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."

The young star has continually run into trouble with a fanbase that expects her to be a clean-cut role model because she was raised Southern Baptist and appeared on the Disney Channel, from making overt suggestions that she habitually smokes pot to openly supporting gay marriage.
