‘Why Are They Filming This?' ‘Bachelor' Finale Shocker

Warning: Spoilers ahead

The dramatic twist in Monday night's "Bachelor" finale had some fans and former contestants outraged, calling the shock ending "unfair" and "awful," and asking "why are they filming this?"

On Monday night's three-hour finale, bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposed to constestant Becca Kufrin, only to reverse course and break up with Kufrin, or Becca K., weeks later to give it a shot with his runner-up Lauren Burnham. The entire ordeal, including the excruciating breakup scene, played out for millions of viewers.

Fans and past contestants alike criticized the show for broadcasting the breakup.

"I don't like this one bit. Shouldn't have filmed. #thebachelor," Sean Lowe tweeted. "Not only is this unfair to Becca, it makes Arie look bad. But hey, it's never been done before! #TheBachelor."

Ben Higgins agreed that the split should not have been filmed for all of America to see.

"How did this breakup end up on camera? Seems like a private conversation," he said. "We don't belong in this conversation....but im still watching #TheBachelor."

According to Becca K. herself, the breakup was at least as painful as it looked.

"A breakup is hard enough, and to have it all filmed and have to re-watch it and know that people all across the country are watching you get your heart broken...it's not fun," she told People magazine. "I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It was like a slap in the face."

To her credit, the 27-year-old said despite the pain he caused, she doesn't think Arie is a "monster" who intended to hurt her.

"I don't think he thought it through, but I don't think he did it maliciously to break my heart," she told People.

So what did the rest of Bachelor Nation think? Take a look at some of the reactions below.

And the drama isn't over yet: Tuesday's night live "After the Final Rose" show will reunite Arie, Becca K. and Lauren B. for the first time.
