Savannah Guthrie's ‘Princesses Wear Pants' Offers Positive Message for Girls

Guthrie says that she and Oppenheim came up with the idea because both their daughters are obsessed with everything princessy

"Today" host Savannah Guthrie and parent educator Alli Oppenheim have collaborated on a new children’s book, “Princesses Wear Pants,” in which Princess Penelope Pineapple shows young girls what they do matters most, not how they look.

"Penelope Pineapple is a little girl who loves to sparkle. She loves glitter. I mean she's a princess so she's got the shoes the dresses the crowns. But she also likes to get things done, so alot of times she's also wearing her pants," says Guthrie. "So this is for all those moms who have daughters who want to be princesses and really just want to wear dresses all the time."

Guthrie says that she and Oppenheim came up with the idea because both their daughters are obsessed with everything princessy.
