Jenni Rivera's Daughter Chiquis to Play the Late Singer in Upcoming Movie

Janney "Chiquis" Marin will honor the memory of her mother, Jenni Rivera, and portray her in an upcoming film being made about the late star.

Chiquis confirmed the casting in the biopic, which the Rivera family supports, and the role will center around the peak of Jenni's career, according to Univision.

The 28-year-old, who is the Mexican-American singer's oldest daughter, is reportedly taking acting and dancing lessons to prepare for the part.

Jenni died in a tragic plane crash Dec. 9, 2012, at the age of 43.

Jenni was posthumously awarded seven times at the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards at the Dolby Theater in L.A on Wednesday, Oct. 9. She won more awards than any other artist--including Artist of the Year, Female. Her final album, La Misma Gran Seora (which was released one week after her death), nabbed album of the year.

Chiquis has also been making headlines, shooting down rumors that she had an affair with her stepfather Esteban Loaiza.

"It was a misunderstanding," she said of her reported fallout with her mother, which occurred Oct. 2, 2012. "My world ended on that day."
