L'Wren Scott Death: Celebrities React

Celebrities and red carpet fashion followers were shocked and saddened by the news of the death of designer L'Wren Scott Monday.

The girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and former fashion model was found dead in her Manhattan apartment of an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement sources.

A spokesperson for Jagger said he was "completely shocked and devastated" by the news. The band landed in Australia Sunday to start a new leg of their tour.

In a statement to E! News, Madonna called Scott's death "a horrible and tragic loss."

As a model, Scott worked for labels incuding Mugler and Chanel and was shot by photographers Bruce Weber, David Bailey and Jean-Paul Goude. After transitioning into fashion styling she dressed celebrities such as Madonna, and her own designs went on to become a red carpet staple for actresses such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Wilde, Ellen Barkin and Nicole Kidman.

Scott also designed costumes for the film "Eyes Wide Shut" starring Kidman, and "Ocean's 13" featuring Barkin.

"L'wren Scott was brilliant, elegant, kind, and generous. S*&#. My heart goes out to her loved ones. What a tragedy," tweeted Wilde.

Her first collection as designer was called a Little Black Dress in 2006 and in 2012, during New York Fashion Week, Scott posted her entire collection on Instagram in lieu of staging a formal catwalk presentation.

Many of those she dressed and who admired her took to Twitter and Instagram Monday afternoon to express their shock and sadness over Scott's passing:
