Prince Harry Spends Night in a Giant Freezer

Prince Harry woke up in a freezer and it had nothing to do with partying.

While the 29-year-old prince once made headlines for a wild night in Las Vegas, he is now focusing on charity work. The fourth in line to the British throne is preparing for a two-week trek across the South Pole with Walking with the Wounded.

Harry spent 24 hours on Monday night in a freezer that simulated arctic conditions, with temperatures reaching as low as -31F and wind speeds of 45 miles per hour, according to USA Today

The chilly stay was part of the prince's training for November's Walking with the Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge. The prince and his team of former military servicemembers plan to venture nine to 12 miles a day, according to USA Today.

Harry's team, which is made up of British soldiers who have been wounded in the line of duty, will compete against other teams from the U.K. and U.S., including one led by "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard.

It won't be Harry's first sojourn in the arctic. The Afghanistan war veteran went to the North Pole as part of a similar charity trek for Walking with the Wounded across the "Devil's Dancefloor," just one month before his big brother, Prince William, wed Kate Middleton in 2011.
