Sean “Diddy” Combs Ranks No. 1 on Forbes' List of Richest Hip-Hop Stars

It's all about the Benjamins, if you ask Sean "Diddy" Combs.

So it's no surprise that Forbes has ranked him No. 1 on its annual list of the five wealthiest hip-hop artists with an estimated net worth of $580 million.

Much of that dough according to the magazine came in the form of his ever-expanding business empire, in particular his eight-figure deal with Diageo's Ciroc vodkas.

Can't nobody hold him down, indeed.

In second place was Jay-Z who raked in approximately $475 million.

A large portion of that income was generated from the sale of his Rocawear fashion line in 2007 to Iconix Brand Group for a whopping $204 million. There's also Beyonce's hubby's stake in the Brooklyn Nets and its newly built Brooklyn arena, the Barclays Center; his stake in Roc Nation and partnerships with a host of brands including Budweiser, D'uss Cognac and Duracel.

Taking the third spot is Dr. Dre with $350 million in the bank. A majority of that cash resulted from the rapper's sale of 51 percent of his Beats by Dr. headphones brand to handset maker HTC for $300 million.

Rounding out the top five were Cash Money/Young Money mogul Bryan Birdman Williams and rapper 50 Cent.

The former has earned an estimated $110 million, thanks to hits generated by his label's stable artists including Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. While the latter netted $125 million from various business deals as well as payouts from licensing his music to various video games and other ventures.
