“The Voice” Recap: #VoiceWildcard Revealed

Nine contestants returned to "The Voice" Tuesday to compete for the #VoiceWildcard spot in the finals.

Carson Daly revealed the "Voice" wildcard pick Wednesday morning on "Today," giving voters their first look at who was given a last minute save and who will round out the top four.

After being told he was not in the final three during the opening minutes of Tuesday's episode, R&B hopeful Damien was voted back in thanks to the #VoiceWildcard overnight vote and will compete in Monday night's showdown round for the chance to ultimately be named "The Voice."

Damien's inclusion gives Team Adam a huge boost in chances of winning the current competition. Three of the top four competitors are coached by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

Daly opened Tuesday night's episode by announcing the three contestants who will advance to the finals: Chris Jamison (Team Adam), Craig Wayne Boyd (Team Blake) and Matt McAndrew (also of Team Adam).

That left one spot open in the finals. For the first time in the show's history, nine contestants would compete for the remaining spot in a #VoiceWildcard vote.

Opening the show was 16-year-old Reagan James of Team Blake, who performed Corinne Brae's "Put Your Records On."

Next up was Team Blake's Jessie Pitts, who sang "Zombie" by The Cranberries.

Ryan Sill returned to the stage next, performing "Marry Me" by Train in hopes of earning his third #VoiceSave.

"America: This guy has the most gorgeous voice," said his coach Gwen Stefani.

Anita Antoinette, also of Team Gwen, delivered a jazzy performance of John Mayer's "Waitin' on the World to Change."

"That jazz run? I don't know where that came from. That was your best!" coach Adam Levine said.

Next up were two semifinalists: Team Gwen's Taylor John Williams, who sang Chris Isaak's "Wicked Games," and Team Adam's Damien, who performed "Grenade" by Bruno Mars.

"There is one more spot in the top four, and it's Damien's," his coach said. "That dude sings so beautifully."

Sugar Joans sweetened "The Voice" stage once more, as the former Team Pharrell performer belted out a rendition of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."

"When you're singing, it's like it's all you should be doing with you're life," Stefani told her.

Team Pharrell's Luke Wade tried to win some hearts with a soulful performance of "Have a Little Faith in Me" by John Hiatt.

The final singer competing for the #VoiceWildcard spot was former Team Pharrell competitor DaNica Shirey, who sang Mariah Carey's "Without You."

"Did you hear that sound?" Williams said over cheers. "That's the sound of America voting you back."

But ultimately it was Damien who given a second chance. He will join Chris Jamison, Craig Wayne Boyd and Matt McAndrew for "The Voice" final four showdown airing Monday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
