Directed by Jim Jarmusch, The Stooges Documentary ‘Gimme Danger' Premieres

Acclaimed filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, of “Coffee and Cigarettes” fame, premiered a trailer Thursday for his new film “Gimme Danger” documenting the rise of iconic rock band The Stooges.

“We are in an undisclosed location interrogating Jim Osterberg (Iggy Pop) about The Stooges, the greatest rock and roll band ever,” Jarmusch is heard saying in the beginning of the trailer.

The Stooges formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the late ‘60s, originally playing garage rock, and evolved their sound into a unique flavor of artsy punk rock still revered by critics and artists today.

The Stooges, with the iconoclastic Pop as their frontman, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

The film “Gimme Danger,” named after the Stooges song, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
