Lady Gaga Tweets to the Tune of 25 Million

The "Bad Romance" singer racks up a record number of Twitter Followers.

Lady Gaga’s little monsters now number more than 25 million.

That’s the social networking benchmark the pop star set late Wednesday night when the amount of people following her on Twitter crossed the 25 million mark.

“#25milliontweetymonsters wow! I’m officially feeling like the luckiest girl in the world today,” she tweeted Thursday morning from Singapore, where she was scheduled to perform a final, sold out concert in the city.

The 26-year-old “Born This Way” singer – who recently apologized to fans for having cancelled a concert date in Indonesia due to security concerns – has some hot competition when it comes to tweeting fans: Justin Bieber is the second most followed person with 22.5 million followers.

Bieber’s numbers are sure to increase when his publicity machine goes into overdrive this summer. The teenybopper is attempting to rebrand himself as a serious artist with a new album (“Believe”) out June 19, a nationwide concert tour and a televised special (“Justin Bieber: All Around the World”) set to air on NBC June 21.

Katy Perry takes Twitter’s third top spot with 20.4 million followers.

Notice a trend? Pop stars rule when it comes to the 140 character shout out: at number four on the list is Rihanna who tweets to the tune of 19.7 million fans, followed by Britney Spears at 17.2 million and then Shakira at 16.2 million.

The first non-entertainer is President Barack Obama who lands at number seven with 16 million followers. Kim Kardashian (14.8 million), Taylor Swift (14.5 million) and Youtube (13.1 million) round out the Twitter top 10.
