Neil Patrick Harris Earns 1 More Emmy Nomination

Neil Patrick Harris can thank a scribe at The Los Angeles Times for his new Emmy nomination.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which handed out Emmy nods last month, revealed it erred Wednesday in not acknowledging Harris’ “Tony Awards” hosting gig last year, according to the Times.

The move followed a campaign of sorts by Chris “Boomer” Beachum, a forums moderator for the Times’ “Gold Derby” blog. After noticing Harris’ name wasn’t included with “Tony” show producers in the “special-class program” category Boomer contacted the Academy and Harris’ rep.

It turns out award-show hosts had their own category until last year, but the honor is now shared with producers. For example, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are up for Emmys for their Oscars telecast.

Harris is already nominated for a best supporting actor Emmy for his role in “How I Met Your Mother” and for guest actor in a comedy for “Glee.”

The 62 Primetime Emmys take place Saturday, Aug. 14.
