Tidbits: Kate Doesn't Get the Point of “Dancing”

Ballroom pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy sees a problem with Kate Gosselin’s “Dancing With the Stars” approach, and it isn’t her flawed footwork or passionless paso doble.

The mother of eight just isn’t having fun.

“I've spoken to Kate, and I don't think she gets the point of this thing yet,” Chmerkovskiy wrote on his TV Guide blog. “The pain on her face says it all, which is unfortunate. The show is about finding a way to come out, enjoy yourself and have fun.”

Making matters worse, Gosselin’s no-fun “Dancing With the Stars” stint isn’t a solo endeavor. According to Chmerkovskiy, the maudlin mood affects Gosselin’s partner, Tony Dovolani, too.

“Tony is trying to relay the message while responsibly getting the routine done,” the Latin Ballroom dance champ explained. “He has a plan, and she needs to focus and listen to him. The idea of a coach and a student is deeply rooted in us. We were taught to respect our teachers, so as teachers, we expect to be respected by our students. Every student is different, so we must teach differently, but we're always respectful. Kate needs to trust him. However lifeless that paso was (last week), he had her ready with the routine.”

Despite the reality TV mom’s rough start and the fact that she is in direct competition with Chmerkovskiy’s partner, Erin Andrews (at least in theory), the pro still hopes Gosselin can turn her “Dancing” trend around.

“I hope she improves and I think she can if she realizes she has an opportunity that she won't have again,” Chmerkovskiy added. “It's a chance for her to focus on something other than personal drama. How many women with multiple kids sit back and reminisce about the days they could go and dance when they watch our show? How many people vicariously live through us? You need to enjoy it.”

‘Bombshell’ McGee apologizes
While it’s doubtful that actress Sandra Bullock has interest in gaining the sympathies of any of her husband’s alleged former mistresses, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee offered hers in an interview with Australia’s “Today Tonight.”

“I feel bad for Sandra,” McGee said. “I know what she must be going through. She must be hurt, devastated, upset, embarrassed.”

When asked what she would say to the Oscar winner if given a chance, the heavily tattooed model even went so far as to apologize — sort of.

“I’d like to say, ‘Sandra, you know, I’m sorry,’ ” McGee started, before drifting into more of a general, responsibility-free apology. “I’m sorry for your embarrassment. I am sorry this is all public.”

Dish on the fly
After boldly tweeting that Elin Nordegren “had 2 b a willing participant on the ride 4 whatever reason” when it came to Tiger Woods’ multiple infidelities, actor Jim Carrey joked away his Twitter backlash. “So, you guys probably don't feel like talkin' about Sandra Bullock, right?” he wrote. “I'M KIDDING! JEEEZE! I'm a little on edge. Cut me some slack!” Later the funnyman hinted that his readers could expect more love-them-or-leave-them posts. “Breaking News! Jim Carrey's ambassador to the world is dead!” Carrey announced. “He is survived by me, the actual Jim Carrey, who has opinions about stuff.” … According to a lawsuit filed by former Wisteria Lane resident Nicollette Sheridan, “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry struck her. It’s a claim at least one insider can confirm. Well, more or less. “Marc did slap Nicollette,” an anonymous cast member told E! Online’s The Awful Truth. “I was there and I saw it. (Nicollette) was trying to slap somebody for a scene, and she couldn't get it right.” That’s when the cast member reportedly spied the ever-helpful Cherry give Sheridan some hands-on slapping advice. “But I have to say,” the insider added, “it was just (Cherry's) hand barely on her head; it sure didn't seem to me to merit the suit (Sheridan has filed).” … Dr. Drew Pinsky’s latest attempt at a long distance intervention advice left Lindsay Lohan feeling defensive. After the “Celebrity Rehab” host revealed to Radar Online that if the actress were his daughter, “I would pack her car full with illegal substances, send her on her way, call the police and make sure she was arrested.” Lohan was quick to respond. “He’s a quack and a sellout,” the 23-year-old told Gossip Cop. “Please tell him to stop!”
