A New Billboard for Got Milk? and Girl Scout Cookies

Three Golden State scouts were chosen for the "Got Milk?" billboard.

When the day comes when we finally get to vote on the ultimate food-beverage pairing, we predict a landslide in favor of Girl Scout Thin Mints and very cold 2% milk served in a frosted glass.

Should we even bring cola and pizza into the mix or lemonade and tea cakes? Probably not, right? We all know the outcome on this one.

Which means that the Got Milk? campaign from the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB) and the Girl Scouts are, and have been, a good fit for a long while. It's been fifteen years, in fact, since the first much-loved Got Milk? Girl Scout Cookies billboard launched (we say "much-loved" because the spunky scout chosen for the campaign became rather iconic -- how fun for her).

Now the partnership continues with a new billboard launched just in time to coincide with National Girl Scout Cookie Day. We're quite sure you've marked your calendar but if not, it is Feb. 8.

Three California girls representing San Diego, Oakland, and Los Angeles were chosen out of 300+ entries. The prize for each scout? A camp scholarship, $500, and, of course, billboard stardom.

Seriously, think back to when you were around age 10 or 11. Would this not have been the biggest deal in the universe and places elsewhere, to be on a huge billboard? Please. We'd still be talking about it on a daily basis, well into adulthood.

Eleanor Massey, the LA ambassador, was presented with her check at a ceremony on Feb. 8; all three scouts appear in the image.

The LA billboard is at First Street and Beaudry Avenue.

Scouts, we raise our glass of cold milk to you and, of course, a Thin Mint.
