BCS Eats: Pasadena Spot Creates Team-Specific Treats

The Dog Haus pays a culinary welcome to Auburn and Florida State.

There's nothing quite like seeing a savory specialty or ingredient or food favorite from home pop up on a menu at a place out of state.

We know, we know -- lots of restaurants do fish tacos around the country, but don't you, as a SoCaler, feel a little proprietary over them, when you see them elsewhere, and plate-proud? Yeah, you probably do.

So when a big event like the Vizio BCS National Championship charges into town, and with it two top-playing teams, and all of their excited fans, Southern California likes to pay a culinary welcome as well.

The Dog Haus is stepping into that gourmet gap with a pair of meals created specifically to welcome Florida State and Auburn to Pasadena, the restaurant's home base. All three Hauses -- in Old Pas, Pasadena on Hill, and Alhambra -- will serve up two football-foodie meals through Monday, Jan. 6, the date of the BCS Championship.

For Auburn? It's a Honey Stung Fried Chicken Sandwich with Sliced Pickles and Haus Slaw. For Florida State? Jerk Chicken Sandwich with Black Beans, Garlic Aioli, Pickled Onion, Cilantro Slaw, and Roasted Habanero Salsa.

Each dish is $6.99.

There are a pair of cocktails, too and two shots tailored specifically to the teams 21-and-over fans.
