What to Know
Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park
Weekends through March 10, plus Feb. 11, 15, and 18
Wet weather and a certain boy found at the center of the Schulzian universe?
It's an iconic duo, a twosome that's as tight as Linus and his blanket, Snoopy and his bestie Woodstock, and Frieda and her naturally curly hair.
For finding Charlie Brown under a rain cloud, or bemoaning a rained-out baseball game, or soggily trodding home in a downpour, is a pretty common sight in the Peanuts comic strips.
But? The beloved avatar of iconic cartoonist Charles Schulz always plugs on, and trudges forward, even if the dampness seems determined to lay low his spirits. And that can-do, have-fun attitude was in lively supply at Knott's Berry Farm on the very wet afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 3.
For that's when a caboodle of Charlie Brown fans, many dressed in zigzagged shirts and black shorts and baseball caps, gathered at the Buena Park theme park for what's now become a tradition: One impressively large gathering of Charlie Browns.
There's a photograph taken, of course, and of course the snapshot isn't the whole story: Knott's is also the home of the PEANUTS Celebration, a yearly happening which includes shows, special events, and character meet-and-greets.
And while Feb. 3 proved to be quite stormy around Southern California, meaning the throng of Charlie Brown buffs was a bit smaller than the one seen in 2018, many people still made the effort, through driving rain and gusty wind.
Don't be dampened, however, if you missed joining the sweet picture, for the Peanuts party continues, each weekend, right through to March 10.
Also? There are a few weekdays in the mix, including Feb. 11, 15, and 18.
The full schedule can be found at the Knott's site, and, after perusing it, you'll need to decide if you want to visit Pigpen's Pig Pen first, or rock out at Woodstock's Music Festival, or take a journey to Beagle Bonanza.
It's a sunshine-filled roster, one that brings happiness, meaning that even the rainiest of days can be dealt with, even if you're Charlie Brown.
