Other patriotic symbols will appear on the Pacific Wheel in Santa Monica, but that flag'll be beyond big. Admire it, each evening, from July 4 through 7, 2019.

Really enormous flags? The kind of flags you can easily spot from what seems like miles away?

We've all seen them, waving alongside a highway or over a municipal building.

They're beyond huge, in short, and we can't begin to fathom what they're measurements might be (those numbers are surely far bigger than the flags we saw in our grade school classrooms).

But large though they may be, these giant flags don't tend to go glittery, nor sparkle, nor move in tandem with the massive moving object they happen to be displayed upon.

The mega American flag found at the Pacific Wheel at Santa Monica Pier, however?

It is both huge and full of glow, thanks to the tens of thousands of LED lights creating that red, white, and blue impact.

If you've never seen this holiday show before, this is your year. It's free to see, it's waving from sundown to 12:30 a.m. from July 4 through 7, and you can catch in on the livecam if you can't make it to Pacific Park.

There are some 174,000 LED lights involved, by the way, and the whole show? It stands at 130 feet high.

In addition to the flag, viewers should keep an eye out for "patterns" and "transitions," the sort of visual kapow that will also pay tribute to the patriotic day.

True story: Fireworks tend to be the reason that we look into the sky come the evening of the Fourth of July.

But there's something else sparkly above our heads, at Pacific Park, and it is waving, with glitter and grandeur, for four evenings beginning on Independence Day night.
