    What to Know

    • Downtown El Segundo

    • June 20, July 18, Aug. 15

    • 5-9 p.m.

A particular time of year and a particular special event? It's a pairing as old as the seasons and those enduring celebrations we humans love to create.

Think, for instance, of a snowy spell and a campfire night or an autumn afternoon and a hayride.

And if you were to find the finest of summer evenings, and think of a festivity that might fit that vibe, you might very well say pinpoint the free art walk, an event that spills outdoors, through galleries, and into the hearts of art-appreciating summer lovers.

And with summer starting up, so are some major art walks, with one of the biggies returning on summer's eve.

That would be Thursday, June 20, and if you're already feeling the Pacific breezes, and tasting the craft beer suds, and seeing the cool paintings created by local artists, you likely know the El Segundo Art Walk well.

This favorite is back, over three summer Thursdays, for its fifth annual hurrah, with the next installments popping up on July 18 and Aug. 15.

As for the first outing of 2019?

There shall be "more than 35 venues and 40 artists" in the scene-cool swirl, a swirl that will twirl through downtown El Segundo and Smoky Hollow Studios.

Live tunes, 21+ sippin' samples from El Segundo Brewing Company and Golden Road, and plenty of eateries to pop into are some of the hallmarks you can expect from the 5 to 9 p.m. event.

Oh yes, and a kinetic sculpture called "STRAWS," that's comprised of some 12,000 metal and plastic straws, straws found on the beachs of Southern California. Artist James Peterson is behind work, which stands at an impressive 15 feet (so it'll be difficult to miss).

Hello again to a great art walk, one that really connects with that El Seg spirit, with the character of a summer Thursday night, and the notion that we all like to edge into the weekend, come summertime, a little earlier than on a Friday.

So plan to visit the lively happening over three Thursdays, all coming up this summer, and get your art/beer/pizza/fun/El Segundo-ing on. Easy and breezy.
