Worlds twirly with weird landscapes, outlandish buildings, happy hues, and strange doings by characters that are cute, villainous, brave, funny, shy, and sometimes all of the above?
The programs of Cartoon Network have become known for all of those zippy built-in features over the last quarter century, as well as other attributes that run the gleeful gamut. The network is a superstar in the playful pantheon of animated entertainment, no doubt about it, and The Paley Center for Media is taking several weeks to honor some of its biggest shows, creators, and merry moments.
Cartoon Network: 25 Years of Drawing on Creativity opens on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Beverly Hills repository for all things related to televised programming.
The exhibit, which'll fly with one bold arm straight out, superhero-style, right through to Sunday, Nov. 19, will celebrate the 'toon-packed powerhouse's 25th anniversary via sketches, stop-motion sets, and sculptures of "The Powerpuff Girls," the fantastically fearless trio that ruled Cartoon Network's schedule for many a moon.
Are these sculptures ready for social media photo ops, should you want to strike a pose with Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup? You bet, so if you've never taken a pic with the Power-ful triumvirate, your chance is ahead.
And will "Adventure Time" aficionados be able to check out stop-motion sets? If Finn and Jake can head out into the unknown, you can surely head to Beverly Hills to see the wonders related to the hit series.
Other goodies, too, will be a part of the exhibit, like screenings. You should also know right now that the displays are completely free to see.
