No one needs to tell a Harry Potter maven that magical deeds are swirling at Universal City. They can see so, with their own eyes, and they don't even need a scrying device or portal-opening potion.
For The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is now in its handsomely Hogwarts-y, full-tower'd state at Universal Studios Hollywood. The opening is still just a pinch over two months out -- April 7 is the enchanted date -- but that doesn't mean that Potterists can't currently twirl their wands over a potentially magical happening upon that very hill, and a few other spell-special places, too.
Why? Universal Studios Hollywood and TripAdvisor have stirred a bubbling cauldron of a sweepstakes, and it goes like this: One magical winner, and three guests, will be transported hither and yon to "experience the wonders of Harry Potter experiences around the globe." Why? To festively mark the opening of the new Harry Potter land at Universal Studios Hollywood.
You do not, repeat, not need to own your own broom in this instance; planes are involved, you may be relieved to hear (perhaps your broom has a few too many miles on it).
So where will you go, should you be the victor of the sweepstakes? The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Los Angeles, of course. Also Orlando. Also Japan. And, yes, you'll turn your proverbial broom for London, where you and your co-wizards will call upon the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, for a peek at "The Making of Harry Potter."
When's the last (last last final kaput last) day to enter? Feb. 24. Airfare, accommodations, two-day theme park tickets for each park visited and other tidbits of a bewitching nature are involved, if you should win, so prepare to be have your socks knocked off. (If they're magical socks, perhaps they already operate under their own power, as magical socks do.)
