Golden Road Giveback: Craft Beer Helps LA Works

The seasonal release raises funds for "the city's largest volunteer action network."

If only every pleasurable, let's-sit-down-and-share-a-drink-or-bite activity could come with a big ol' dose of doing good, well... The world, which has its sweet moments, would absolutely runneth over with an undeniable big-hearted-ness.

As it stands, our giving back and our dining or drinking out tend to stand rather far apart. There are cheer-worthy exceptions, though, like at Golden Road Brewing. The just-off-San-Fernando suds stalwart is known for its crafty, carefully considered concoctions, but consider that The Works, the brewery's seasonal beer for fall 2015, is all about helping those who help others.

Is there anything more full-of-circle than paying a kindness to people who make it their purpose to pay kindness? There's not, we'll wager, and we'll wager that The Works, the limited-time beer that helps out LA Works, will inspire brew buffs to not only appreciate the libation in their hands but also think about giving voluntarism more space in their life.

Because LA Works just happens to be "the city's largest volunteer action network." Founded in 1991, the beneficent organization delivers meals to homeless people, creates educational to-dos for disadvantaged youths, and helms thousands of projects that cover a giveback gamut, from assisting at animal shelters to tending to our natural world and environment.

"(A) portion of the proceeds will directly benefit LA Works," says Golden Road of The Works. The brewmaker has a now long-standing tradition of supporting a regional non-profit through the creation of a specific brew (Golden Road's Heal the Bay release went far and wide, summon awareness to the group's environmental-forward efforts at Santa Monica Bay).

The Works is an IPA, by the by, that boasts "big tropical flavors" and "a spicy landscape" thanks to a host of "lesser-known varietals. Motueka from New Zealand is in the works of The Works, and other across-the-globe good stuff, too, so see if this beer-nice mixtape is right up your alley, taste-wise.

Giving back and helping LA's gargantuan volunteer efforts is right up everyone's alley. Perhaps your conversation with your pals, while tasting The Works, will involve you all signing up to volunteer at LA Works.
