There are quite a few flumes in this world, but perhaps no flume is as famous as the one that's been dousing theme park guests for a heat-relieving half century at Knott's Berry Farm.
We are, of course, talking about the Buena Park-based theme park's iconic Timber Mountain Log Ride, which is often referred to simply as "the log ride" by its many fans. Love it? Here's something fun: The get-into-a-hollowed-out-log, see-rustic-scenes, splash-down-a-42-foot-flume favorite is turning 50 on July 11, 2019, an occasion to celebrate.
The ride, which is themed to a 19th-century lumber camp, was hailed for its "legendary theming" upon opening, theming that was enhanced with a 2013 restoration, which introduced fresh animatronics to the scene. Two new animatronic figures will debut in honor of the anniversary on July 11.
There will also be fresh anniversary merchandise for purchase from a booth near the ride from July 11 through 14 (think t-shirts, pins, and signed artwork from artist Jeff Delgado). And if you want to snag a free commemorative button, be there on July 11 when Knott's hands them out to everyone, while supplies last.
