Has Disneyland Park always existed at 1313 Disneyland Drive in Anaheim?
Its stately fairy tale castle, its winding rivers and tall trees, and its ye olden times Main Street architecture can give an observer a sense that The Happiest Place on Earth has forever been in place, just waiting to be found. But Walt Disney was the dreamer of this particular, and particularly iconic, land, and that dream was finally realized on July 17, 1955 when the much-talked-about theme park finally threw the gates wide.
As Disneyland turns 62, and readies for fresh attractions and zippy new adventures, like "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" in 2019, let's peek back at what it looked like before 1955 as well as on that hot 'n happy Opening Day. Finally, no Disneyland glance-back is complete without some nostalgia-sweet peeks at its early years, too.
