Negroni Week: Multi-Charity Fundraiser

Over 60 SoCal spots'll serve the stylish sip while helping several charities.

When one enjoys a stylish sip, the kind of old-school cocktail a character might have ordered in a '40s-cool potboiler, the only souvenir one typically leaves with is the swizzle stick.

But when Negroni Week comes back around, as it does every early June, the person who enjoyed the Negroni can go well beyond leaving with the swizzle stick, in terms of what happens after: A charity will benefit.

Organized by Imbibe & Campari in 2013, Negroni Week, which is on from June 6-12, 2016, rounds up bars and restaurants across the nation with the aim to raise funds via each Negroni served.

If you don't know the libation, you probably know its hue -- a pinky red -- which springs from both the Campari, its main ingredient, and vermouth rosso. An orange peel is the most citrus-y component in the glass, and gin brings up the rear, flavor-wise.

Over 60 Southern California taverns, bars, and eateries are participating in the 2016 Negroni Week, places like The Eveleigh, Sotto, The Brig, and Little Easy. Want to see if your local hangout is on board? The venue rundown is here.

The money raised for organizations is ever-growing: Over $320,000 was tallied up in 2015.

Those charities include food banks, art funds, and nature-minded efforts.
