New to LA: The Pop-Up Vegan Supper Club

A Detroit dining favorite bundles up the cookware and makes for Venice.

There are loads of personality tests running rampant, at this very minute, around the internet -- do you prefer sunrise or sunset? Chocolate or vanilla? -- but a person can be known by one simple act: Do they choose to sit at a restaurant's communal table or not?

It's not simply an introvert/extrovert thing, but rather if a foodie likes to share the experience of new culinary adventures (which is a whole other personality test unto itself). The traveling supper club is like a communal table turned up to 11, because everyone is going to talk, discuss, and probably make new friends.

And if those new friends love raw vegan eats? Zoetic is your supper club. The move-around, gallery-occupying event started in Detroit but is heading for Southern California, with Chef Corinne Rice at the helm. Stop one is the G2 Gallery in Venice on Thursday, May 22, and Chef Rice is keeping it intimate, as all supper clubs should be: Only 11 seats remain along the snug communal table, which'll feature foodie dreamstuffs galore.

Like? A hazelnut chaga cream soup with ginger harissa oil, pickled chamomile, and nasturcism. Purple carrots with avocado cream, black sesame foam, and other tasty ingredients starts things off. And is there Mexican red velvet custard? There is, most certainly.

Cost is $79.

Can't make it? Zoetic'll head next for C.A.V.E. Gallery on Abbot Kinney at the end of July. Communal table lovers, and fans of vegan eats, you don't need to do another personality quiz today. Know that you like socializing and supping, both, and you'll find like-minded people at the latest pop-up club making the SoCal scene.
