Stoking the fires of inner anticipation is a key factor to enjoying a Cirque du Soleil presentation.
Will a tall clown really pop out of that teensy tiny box? Will the aerialist swinging from the trapeze nail three flips in a row? Will a zany performer sit in my lap, to the delight of the audience?
With this in mind, mavens of the Montreal-based feat-filled phenomenon have been stoking their own inner anticipation for several months now, ahead of general tickets for "KURIOS -- Cabinet of Curiosities" going on sale.
That general sale kicked off on the morning of Friday, July 31 for both the upcoming Orange County and Los Angeles runs.
OC is up first, starting on Oct. 15, at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. The production'll push through to nearly the end of November, then pack up its tent and costumes and make for Dodger Stadium for a Dec. 10 debut.
An extension of the production's Southern California stay was just announced, by the by, so if you were hoping to do an early Valentine's evening at the Dodger Stadium show, you can: The final local "KURIOS" date, thus far, is Feb. 7.
As for the look/feel/vibe of the show? Saying it is elegantly steampunk would be right on the money. Clowns of a mysterious nature, contortionists and acrobats who can bend and tumble and leap, and brassy sets are the bronze-beautiful hallmarks of this particular spectacular.
It's a well-appointed jewel box of a production, a show that follows a cavalcade of Cirque du Soleil productions, shows that have covered everything from nature to birth to water in both theme and appearance.
