PaleyFest: Initial 2016 Line-up Reveal

"Empire" and "American Horror Story: Hotel" are two of the panels set for the annual TV spectacular.

Television fandom is based, very much, on the enjoyment of, or at least weathering of, a state of constant anticipation.

You want to know if that show you heard about will be picked up, or renewed, or if a rumored star cameo is happening, and what in heaven's name will come of the cliffhanger involving your favorite character.

PaleyFest, the Paley Center for Media's annual actors-and-creators panel party, is very much built on the anticipation principle. We don't necessarily need to anticipate when PaleyFest will happen -- it's springtime -- nor if it'll happen -- it has been around for 33 years, and remains the starry stalwart among celeb-packed panels, at least from the TV side of things (with all due respect to Comic-Con International, which is also known for movie panels, too).

The announcement of the March 2016 dates -- March 11 through 20 -- arrived not long after New Year's Day, and on Tuesday, Jan. 12 PaleyFest made an initial reveal as to what shows'll be filling out the stage at The Dolby Theatre during that string of nights.

"Empire" from Fox is part of the big program, and Taraji P. Henson, the inimitable Cookie, as well as Terrence Howard, who stars as Lucious Lyon, will be part of the panel (along with several other stars from the series). "American Horror Story: Hotel," "black-ish," "Scream Queens," and "Power" all scored slots in the TV-tastic line-up (with each landing upon their own night).

This is, as mentioned, the initial reveal; there are more nights to fill during PaleyFest, and more shows to come in the coming days. It's not uncommon, also, for PaleyFest to announce more stars, or changes in who's attending a panel, as the dates draw quite near.

Tickets? They go on sale to the general public on Friday, Jan. 15, though Paley Center members can make their purchases the day before.
