Palm Springs Hotels Offer Discounts for Mountain Fire Evacuees

A number of Desert Resort destinations are offering discounts.

Many Californians who've been asked to evacuate their homes due to fire can speak to a shared experience: stress and fright are two overwhelming emotions, as well as a sense of rush and expediency to reach and rest in a safe spot.

Thousands of residents are facing just this as they evacuate their homes in the Mount San Jacinto region. The Mountain Fire, which started on Monday, July 15 off State Highway 243 south of Idyllwild, has now displaced some 6,000 people, many hailing from Idyllwild and nearby areas.

Evacuation centers were established in Anza and Hemet, and now several Palm Springs hotels are stepping in to offer their neighbors up the big hill discounts on stay-overs.

The list, which featured 13 properties as of 2 p.m. on July 18, may be updated, says the Palm Springs tourism site. Parker Palm Springs, the Riviera Palm Springs, Los Arboles Hotel, and Courtyard by Marriott are four of the hotels on the roster. Prices for a night start at $49, with several of the hotels landing in the $50-$99 range for a single night's stay.

All listings include a discount code and reservations are only being accepted by phone. A couple of the hotels can accommodate pets but most cannot, please note.

Participating hotels ask that these discounted rates be reserved for those impacted by the evacuation (further, an ID will be required upon check-in).

Eye the full list of properties and be sure to check back for additional hotels ready to lend a hand during the Mountain Fire.
