Pink Martini Discounts in Honor of Pink Martini's LA Shows

LA eateries honor the Portland orchestra's bowl appearance with themed drinks.

Pink Martini and the Hollywood Bowl? It's a tight relationship with a few solid years under its belt. It's a relationship only rivaled, at least in local terms, by the Portland outfit's regular appearances at Walt Disney Concert Hall, which, like their Bowl shows, brim with old standards, zazzy new ditties, and tunes full of international flair.

We wish we could claim the stylish little orchestra as our own, but they indeed hail from Oregon. Lucky you, Beaver State, but Tinseltown's got 'em from Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21, when they again return to a certain outdoor amphitheater with a lavish string-filled set.

The news this time around? Storm Large, the chanteuse who stupendously subbed for singer China Forbes while Ms. Forbes recovered from vocal chord surgery, will perform at the Bowl along with China Forbes. It's their first stage-sharing assignment ever.

But Pink Martini's charming reach doesn't end at Highland Avenue. A number of local restaurants are offering discounts on their own "pink martinis" for people who show a Bowl ticket stub. (We threw down some quotes there, since the drinks are not actually called that but bet they're a bit pinky in hue.)

Who's participating? Cleo, which will serve Hollywood Bowl guests an eight-buck Janopolitan with a same-day ticket stub. (Belvedere (RED) vodka and basil are involved.) Nic's of Beverly Hills is on the roster, too, of course, given that they're the martini's local HQ. And Perch will mix you a free martini should you show a ticket stub from one of the Pink Martini concerts happening from July 19-21 (and Perch's deal is good through the following Friday).

The list is bigger, but that's to be expected. Groups don't come much larger than Pink Martini and the orchestra's regular visits down this way deserve something extra. That several bars are pink-martini-ing it up this time around feels just about perfect.
