The Grand Canyon is celebrating its 100th anniversary of being named a national park this year, and to mark the occasion, it will continue to provide extraordinary experiences in nature as it always has.

In the summer months, the park opens the North Rim, giving visitors access to the hiking trail the North Kaibab, which drops 4,000 feet within the first five miles.

After a tiring day exploring, visitors will be able to view the stars clearer then in years past as the park is now designated as a "Dark Sky Park," as it has updated its fixtures to conserve energy and be more star-friendly. There will even be "Star Parties" from June 22 to 29, 2019, where tourists and amateur astronomers get together to enjoy the shining sky above.

And if people get sick of the stars, they can see a film on the canyon at the Centennial Summerfest Film Festival from June 23 to 29, 2019.
