Rooftop Cinema Club's August Roster Is Now Sizzling

"Dirty Dancing" and "A Star Is Born" are on the love-themed schedule at LEVEL and NeueHouse.

What to Know

  • LEVEL in DTLA and NeueHouse in Hollywood
  • $17 adult ticket (plus booking fee)
  • $24 ticket includes a Rooftop Love Seat and bottomless popcorn

There's no quibbling about it: June is the warm-weather month that seems to get all of the love-focused accolades in popular culture.

It is, after all, the month most associated with weddings. Which means that, after February, it is a time period rife with hearts and Cupids and nuptial imagery.

But let us offer up August as an ultimate lovey-dovey month instead. It's the time when we start thinking of fall, and cooler days, and the sentimental yearning for summer has us moving fast to capitalize upon its sweetest pleasures.

Which makes Rooftop Cinema Club's August 2019 theme perfectly in line with the spirit of the final full month of summertime.

Yes, that theme is "love," which means that the movies on the line-up at LEVEL in downtown LA, and at NeueHouse in Hollywood, will, for the most part, celebrate courtship, flirting, cooing, and cuddlesomeness.

Also a little cuddly? That these movies are presented under the stars, on, yes, a rooftop, upping the romantic feel of each evening.

Coming up on the August roster? "The Princess Bride" is on there, as you wish. "The Notebook" will bring the feels to both locations, on select nights. And "Dirty Dancing" will have the time of its life.

There are quite a few flicks that aren't especially lovey, if gooey and/or tender emotions aren't quite your bag at the moment.

Good to know?

You'll need to make sure the movie you want to see is screening in the location you think it is, so check twice.

You'll need to be age 18 or older, yep.

And while a ticket is $17, you can pay a few bucks more and go for the bottomless popcorn route.

And bottomless popcorn will make a lot of people feel the lovey-dovey emotions, for sure. There's nothing wrong with having a bit of a snacky romance with a whole bunch of yummy kernels during a great movie.

You + popcorn 4evr.

Prices, times, and all the love that'll flow through August can be found at the main HQ for the popular outdoor film series.
