See the Big Pitcher at LA Beer Week

The celebration of local brewing gets foaming, as is annual tradition, over Father's Day Weekend.

What to Know

  • June 15-23, various locations
  • 11th annual event in 2019
  • Big kick-off happens at LA Center Studios on June 15

You know that Southern California has long attracted creative types, those ambitious souls who are dedicated to crafting a superb acting technique, a knack for writing, a superb singing style, or a notable way with noshables.

But another group of artisans that is continuing to build a foam-loving fanbase and accolades from all over? The brewmakers of our region.

Thus it isn't a huge leap, or "hop," if you prefer, to say that our area's brewhouses have become some of the ultimate must-stops for visitors looking for well-made libations.

And, of course, locals, too.

And locals have a chance to get further acquainted with those brewhouses during LA Beer Week, an annual celebration of SoCal's most sublime suds.

The celebration always begins on Father's Day Weekend, or at least has since its 2009 founding, but LA Beer Week's numerous events, which are as plentiful as pretzels in a bowl, continue for a full week after the holiday wraps.

Which means this: LA Beer Week is rolling out from June 15 through 23, with its grand kick-off happening at Los Angeles Center Studios on Saturday, June 15.

Other to-dos bubbling up at the 11th annual outing include a Father's Day Carnival at Los Angeles Ale Works, Battle of the Bands at The Hi Hat, and a Craft Beer Open House at Pacific Plate Brewing.

Oodles of events, and we mean that, can be found here. Sometimes food is involved, too, or live entertainment, or there's a tap takeover, or a particular kind of beer is in the sudsy spotlight.

What's your pleasure? You'll likely find it at some tavern, pub, or brewery in the days ahead.

Bonus? Some of the events are free.

Libation enthusiasts, let's celebrate our local beverage pros, the people that craft the craft brews, give the tours, explain the process, and come up with all of those fresh 'n foamy tastes, season after season.

Have your designated driver lined up? Get going, then, now that one of SoCal's biggest brew bashes is tapping the proverbial keg.
