Where can you immerse yourself in the world of Elizabethan England, cheer on jousting knights, rock out to medieval bagpipes, indulge in Zagat-rated food, partake in a live action fantasy role playing game and even join a most mighty pub crawl?

Why The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire, good sir! Now celebrating its 52nd season, the seven-week bacchanal kicks off on April 5 at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, CA. And this year, the Faire is better than ever.

Featuring 40 performance groups gracing 16 stages spread across 20 beautiful lake-side acres, there is truly fun for the whole family, from hipsters to history buffs to fantasy fans. Mingle with the motley denizens of this mysterious world as you walk through Deptford, the recreated royal shipyard city. You'll spot jugglers and dancers, magicians and hypnotists, plus vaudeville acts galore that will have you howling with laughter and marveling at the stunts on display. There's even an adrenaline-charged jousting tournament, where seasoned pros will compete for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in an authentic Pas D'Armes.

But entertainment isn't limited to stages at this truly interactive Faire. Guests will love the Marketplace, where over 125 artisans will demonstrate their skill at blowing glass, forging iron and crafting jewelry, all of which will be for sale. Meaning whether you're in the market for an authentic corset or some exotic leathers or perhaps a manly drinking goblet, you'll find it all here. You can even learn a craft yourself by attending one of the many workshops, like Celtic drawing or basket weaving.

Or join RenQuest, a multiplayer, live action fantasy game that brings players out from behind their computer screens. This season boasts a brand new epic storyline.

Of course all this action calls for a little merriment, preferably in the form of delicious food and drink. Luckily, The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire has your knight's appetite covered. Food is prepared by 23 vendors, meaning you can indulge in some fish and chips or sausages. Not in the mood for meat? Vegetarian warriors will enjoy vegetarian and vegan entrees. Post up for grilled cheese, turkey legs or exquisite crepes, then top it off with a freshly baked cupcake. Parched? Join the pub crawl, departing twice a day, to sample some of the kingdom's finest ales alongside while joining in bawdy songs alongside wenches, or keep it sophisticated with afternoon tea in the Queen's court.

The 52nd annual Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire runs every weekend through May 18. Tickets are $28 for adults, $15 for children. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Renfair.com.
