Super Heroes Ready to Dash at Disneyland

Look for Captain America, Dr. Strange, and several other pop culture icons 'round the Anaheim resort.

Pro tip: If you ever find yourself inside a blockbuster movie, perhaps idling on a street corner as the mega robot stomps into town, keep a keen eye out for the super heroes, who might just flash by you to save the day.

Super heroes do, in fact, run quite a bit (when they're not flying or jumping or kicking or floating into the center of the action). To see hundreds upon hundreds of super heroes all dashing in the same direction is rather more unusual though, but should you spy this sight know that you're not actually inside a blockbuster movie: You're at Disneyland Resort over the second weekend in November.

That's when the Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend unfurls, much like a shiny cape catching the wind. The four-day happening — Thursday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 13 are the 2016 dates — includes a number of costume-ready, cameras-out happenings, from the huge Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon to the Captain America 5K to the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo.

And one of the au courant, buzzed-over, in-theaters-now events of this year's go-around is the Doctor Strange 10K.

Of note? The Sunday, Nov. 13 Avengers Half Marathon includes "more magical miles inside Disneyland Resort" ("a loop around Paradise Bay with 'World of Color' show elements" is part of the map).

As is tradition with Disneyland runs, many participants are in full regalia, from the most minimal of nods to their favorite Avenger to impressively metallic Iron Man looks.

If you're going to simply visit the parks on the days of the races, you're bound to see a number of hero'd-out runners enjoying the day. If you're running, best of luck, and be sure to head straight for the mega robot stomping through town or spaceship hovering ahead (or at least run like you are, so best pretend you're starring in next summer's hottest blockbuster as you cover the course).
