50% of proceeds from D'Addario products will go to the Music Education for Girls Initiative
Strumming the strings of your first guitar? Or your second? Or your sixth?
Sitting down with your brand-new ukulele or picking up a banjo with the intention of figuring out your favorite tune, one note at a time?
Or finally getting that bass you've been dreaming about?
Going the music-making route is exhilarating, it's mind-opening, it is an exercise in connection, and it can open doors, windows, and other formerly closed passages to the wider world.
For learning to play an instrument has always been an empowering pursuit, one that grows confidence, and it is a pursuit that can last a happy and fulfilled lifetime.
International Women's Day is March 8, and while numerous organizations will honor the day in their own ways, Guitar Center has teamed up with the D'Addario Foundation with an express purpose: To "support the advancement of girls in music" through funds raised on D'Addario products.
How does this work?
The foundation "... provides young women with the resources they need to study music, as well as the support needed for personal and professional growth."
Quite a bit of money was raised via the philanthropic partnership in 2018, with the final donation figure standing at $30,000.
