There are dogs who definitely don't like the tub, pups who prefer a shower, and pooches that'll leap into any swimming pool if given the chance. And then there are those hounds that will ride the ocean waves, all to help support other animals in need of a lucky break, some TLC, or a home. That special grouping met up at Del Mar Dog Beach on Sunday, Sept. 9, along with their humans, to raise money for the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
The adorable and important event in question? The famous Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon, which saw so-called "surFURs" on boards, as well as pups in costumes, and sandy dogs getting all of the kisses and cuddles they're due. Take a lovable look back now at some of the 2018 participants, and ponder if you and your lil' guy will take lessons in 2019, all to join this late-summer, oh-so-salty showdown, a hang-twenty competition with plenty of heart.
