The togs on television? Clothing is a major part of any character's story. If they wear sparkles, if they don denim, if they wear something from the past, or from the future, the viewer at home has a strong sense of where the show's arc may be headed, or, at the very least, a real insight to the person rocking the outfit.
The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising honors some of TV's top costume designers each August, September, and October, which, of course, includes Emmy season. FIDM's popular, free-to-see exhibit, "The 11th Annual Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design Exhibition," opened on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
