Things to Do This Week: Old Pasadena Yappy Hour

Old Pasadena Yappy Hour: Have you and your pup played enough this summer? There's still time to frolic among other hound aficionados before Labor Day Weekend arrives. How? Just make for the heart of Old Pas on Wednesday, Aug. 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for a free event devoted to our dogs. There's a green carpet to walk, oh yeah, and photo opps, and a DJs, and "local doggy 'celebrities,'" and giveaways, and other pooch-oriented details. Also? The dogs-a-ok pation of Dog Haus Biergarten will be the spot to stop, thanks to an extra-long Happy Hour. 

Final Summer of Music on the Redondo Pier: You can still soak up outdoor sounds, a sunset, and good breezes before the season bids us farewell. But tarry not, summer lovers, for the very last Summer of Music night, a free event in Redondo Beach, will tune up the guitars on Thursday, Aug. 30. Strange Days will be on the Pier Stage, and eats and sips are available to buy from dozens of local Redondo favorites. Can you show with a blanket or low chair? Yep. Should you get your summer on, while you can? Yep again.

Final Sunset Concert at the Skirball: Indeed, the much-loved free concerts at the SKirball Cultural Center are also winding down, but if you can get to the institution on Thursday, Aug. 30, you'll be able to catch the final one of the summer of '18. Gili Yaho will be "(s)inging in both English and Amharic, Ethiopia's official language," in a show that will touch upon psychedelic rock and other styles, too. Entrance is gratis but parking is $10, and it is all first-come, first-served in terms of seating. A good plan? Arrive early.

Big Kid Bingo: Think you have what it takes to be the best at Bingo? Have you been practicing your "Bingo!" shout, the one that tells the room that you're the winner? And do you love fab 'Q? Best make your way to Studio City on Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Barrel & Ashes, where adult-fun Bingo, complete with a BBQ sandwich and "a choice of Belle Meade beverage or flight," will B, I, N, G, Own the night. It's $22, which includes the food and drink mentioned, plus a Bingo card. And yep, there shall be prizes.

Jimboy's Tacos Giveaway: So you're in Brea, and you're craving something tortilla-ish, and full of spice, and maybe crunchy, or maybe soft-to-the-bite, and you come upon the newest Jimboy's location. If it happens to be Tuesday, Aug. 28, and it is noon, or after the noon o'clock hour, and you buy something at the brand-new restaurant, you'll score a free beef taco, all to celebrate the eatery's Brea debut.
