You've seen the outfits on screen; now don one, for an upcoming party. Just head to North Hollywood for a look around the storied, clothing-packed shop.

It's not all that uncommon to start devising a Halloween costume at 5:16 p.m. on the last day of October, especially if you've been busy but you've got a party to attend or plan on greeting trick-or-treaters at the front door.

If you're more inclined, though, to start dreaming up your Halloween look around 5/16, as in the middle of May, as in way, way early, then you likely know that there are places around Southern California where the rentable costumes are especially spectacular.

And you don't like to dawdle: You want to rent ASAP, as soon as the rental shops open to the public in early October, and one of the largest and most lofty and most movie-starry of our local costume houses has done just that: Western Costume Company just threw its doors wide to anyone who would like to rent a cinema-worthy get-up.

The Western Costume Company Halloween costume shop debuted for the season in North Hollywood on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017.

What's inside? Prepare to ponder "thousands of costumes," and, once you find just the right one — a magical elf, a medieval queen, a space traveler, or perhaps some combination of the three — prepare to keep it throughout the entire month.

Which means you'll have the plum chance to flaunt it at a number of Halloween bashes, and on Halloween night itself, should you head out to the carnaval in West Hollywood or a friend's over-the-top get-together.

You won't need a Tinseltown-sized budget, either, to make your costume fantasies come true: Rentals start at just under fifty bucks, though super-elaborate looks may truck northwards of $300.

And, for sure: "Couple and group costumes" are also available for rent.

Western Costume Company has supplied clothing to so many well-known flicks, from "The Right Stuff" to "Jurassic Park" to "Edward Scissorhands." Will you don a piece that once appeared in one of your favorite movies? It's no secret that shirts and scarves and just about everything a character wears on-screen'll eventually find a new role in some future film, or, even, a fan's Halloween costume.
