1930s Whiskey Party

Dress like the '30s, make for the Edison, and say cheers.

A 1930s-style party where whiskey is the central draw? It feels like a cozy Saturday night in January to us.

So the fact that this bash'll go down mid-week, in the middle of July, during our city's first big heat wave of the season? Color us charmed. It isn't often we get to don seamed stockings and gloves, sip something amber, and play at time travel while the downtown finishes up a warm 85-degree day.

And isn't always kind of cool and nighttime inside the subterranean Edison? That's the bar that's hosting the Wednesday, July 11 bash which will include complimentary shoeshines -- so don't show in your flip-flops, right? -- plus burlesque performances and a Model A on the premises.

Meaning, yeah, you should dress up. A bow tie? Suspenders? If you really go the distance in the dressy department, you could nab a gift card worth a hundy -- that feels '30s lingo-y to us -- and a bottle of Templeton Whiskey.

Oh, that particular label is one of the stars of the night, meaning cocktails made with Templeton'll run ten bucks.

Let's also mention that the burlesque comes courtesy of Big Willie's.

Now that we're thinking about it, shouldn't we all find a calm, subterranean hideaway in which to wait out the above-ground, slightly sweltering temps? And if that place comes with dance performances and celebratory cocktails, isn't that kind of perfect?
