FINAL SIZZLING SUMMER NIGHTS: It's been the turn-it-up al fresco fiesta that's been dancing through the Autry National Center's courtyard every Thursday and Friday throughout July and August. Now, we are at the final Thursday in August, which means the party has to say hasta. But not before some salsa goodness from Johnny Polansco y su Conjunto Amistad. The $7 admission gets you into the museum, too. You know you want to go sit on that saddle/fake horse in the basement area. 6:30-9PM
PETE YORN: He has a new album out -- well, newish -- it debuted earlier this summer and it is called "Back and Fourth" -- and a single, "Relator," with Scarlett Johansson. Now he's headed for Music Box @ Fonda for two nights, starting tonight. We always hit the back button for Mr. Yorn's "By Your Side" a couple of times after it comes up on shuffle.
COCKTAILS, COSMETICS & CUPCAKES: Starlet Martinis, gratis, and mini-makeovers are on the schedule at this launch party for "The Cocktail Hours," the first book from Margaret Rose Lester. It's a Yelp-backed event that's happening at the Benefit Cosmetics Boutique on West Third, so of course, browsing rouge-y items will be entirely possible. 6-9PM
