A Night in Haunted Orange

EERIE ORANGE: Orange, for its bright, citrus-sweet name, certainly has its share of reputed phantomry. Well, any clutch of beautiful Victorian homes will inspire phantom fans and those who track the supernatural, and Orange definitely has its share of 19th-century buildings, streets, and oft-told tales. Haunted Orange covers a lot of that territory via its ghost walks, but, once a year, the group throws a pre-Halloween dinner that digs deeper into local legend and spirit sightings. "A Night in Haunted Orange" is the event's name, and it is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Orange County Mining Company. On the menu? A no-host bar, various pasta dishes, and guest appearances by those who know their creepy California ghost tales. A ticket is sixty dollars, and the organizers say it sold out last year.

GHOST WALK: If the dinner isn't your thing, but you'd like to gadabout all of those story-filled homes (or at least outside of the buildings), sign up for a Haunted Orange Ghost Walk. Price is eighteen dollars and they've got several upcoming nights just ahead (and just before Halloween, too). You'll find out where Orange's old morgue is located and you'll learn what eateries are still popular with those who have crossed over. It's a nightime stroll, of course, so dress for chill. Chills on the outside and inside, of course.
