A Royal Celebration in Westlake Village

The Four Seasons hosts a party in honor of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE: While Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee -- that's the 60th anniversary of her ascension to the throne -- will be much celebrated in the UK, there are a few places around Southern California that will be raising a cup of tea and/or a scone to the regal event. After all, Los Angeles is home to thousands of Brits working in the entertainment industry, and California and Great Britain share a number of business and tourism ties. One place that will summon all that is queenly and royal is the Four Seasons Westlake Village. The hotel is joining up with the British-American Business Council Los Angeles to throw a Diamond Jubilee celebration on Sunday, June 10. And look who else will be in attendance: Dame Barbara Hay, the British Consul General.

BRITISH CLASSICS: The affair will be positively crowded with British savories, including mini Welsh rarebits and sandwiches and steak pie (they'll arrive in small, snackable form). And, in the cups? Well Pimm's, naturally. The garden party is $75 per person, and you'll want to dress up in your swellest daytime wear (so do think "garden party" and hats and seersucker and such). A trip to England and some Four Seasons stays are part of a grand prize, too, so hooray and hurrah to that. And don't think this is an entirely stuffy affair; Adele and other modern (and not-so-modern) Brit classics will play on the sound system.
