Above the Fray: Ron Herman's Summer Sale Preview

The floral Steven Alan dresses are $150

A new Tokyo store isn't Ron Herman's only news today: although their summer sale technically starts tomorrow, the discounts were quietly applied this morning. And judging by the number of devoted clients who are already turning up, they aren't likely to stick around for long (all prices are after markdowns).

The Good News: This is the most straightforward sale we've seen in a long time—a flat 50% off all marked fixtures. Highlights for men included stacks of Lanvin shorts (around $300) and sport coats (starting at around $980), multiple rails of Thom Browne button-downs (around $200), and walls of t-shirts by Bblessing, Colorfield, and Nice Collective.

Women should check out the huge selection of Twenty8Twelve merch (around $50 for tees, $130 for blouses, $200 for dresses), along with lots of premium denim—including a rail of tinted Martin Margiela styles upstairs (topping out at $250). Early birds might snag a Vena Cava frock ($250-ish) or an Alexander Wang lace-look minidress (around $300), but these usually go fast.

The Bad News: Not many accessories have been marked down—but there are a few belts and scarves on sale, along with some bags from ba&sh, Superfine, and Sissi starting around $250.

Insider Tip: The sale is taking place at all four locations—Melrose, Beverly Hills, Brentwood and Malibu—but a Ron Herman informant tells us the Melrose outpost has the "biggest sale and the best stuff".
